ON THE OCCASION OF MARCH 8, THE UNA NESSUNA CENTOMILA FOUNDATION LAUNCHES A NEW SOCIAL CAMPAIGN: \u201cMARCH 8: DUE PUNTI E ACCAPO\u201d \u2014 A FULL STOP, OR RATHER TWO, ON WOMEN\u2019S RIGHTS IN OUR COUNTRY.<\/b><\/p>\n
On the occasion of <\/span>International Women\u2019s Day<\/b>, the Una Nessuna Centomila Foundation launches the campaign <\/span>\u201cMarch 8: Due punti e accapo\u201d<\/b> on giant screens in the main squares of <\/span>Rome and Milan<\/b> and across social media. A full stop \u2014 or rather two \u2014 to open a dialogue, create space for change, and spark collective action and reflection starting from the current state of <\/span>women\u2019s rights in Italy<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n At the heart of the campaign, in collaboration with <\/span>Urban Vision<\/b> and <\/span>Hobo Studio<\/b>, who conceived and produced it, is the desire to take stock of the female condition starting with the concept of <\/span>time<\/b>, through two approaches: one dialogic and the other historical.<\/span><\/p>\n In the first, <\/span>young and very young women<\/b> describe the conditions in which they live, work, and move, touching on themes like the <\/span>gender pay gap<\/b> (women still earn 15% less than men), the <\/span>value of consent<\/b>, the <\/span>right to freedom<\/b>, and the <\/span>importance of gender-specific medicine<\/b> to adequately recognize and treat symptoms specific to the female body.<\/span><\/p>\n Then comes a more <\/span>historical perspective<\/b>, showcasing <\/span>laws that changed the course of women\u2019s history<\/b>. A deserved tribute to past achievements, with a clear eye on the present, a reminder that such victories must never be taken for granted or assumed to be fully realized. Thanks to images provided by the <\/span>UDI (Union of Italian Women) photographic archive<\/b> and <\/span>Archivia<\/b>, the campaign contrasts key historical moments \u2014 such as the approval of the <\/span>abortion law (1978)<\/b>, the <\/span>first time women voted in national elections (1946)<\/b>, and the <\/span>law establishing equal rights between spouses (1976)<\/b> \u2014 with the reality of 2024, which still shows, for example, that <\/span>7 out of 10 gynecologists refuse to perform abortions<\/b>, or that <\/span>only 52.6% of women are employed<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n The campaign also includes a still from the film <\/span>\u201cThere\u2019s Still Tomorrow\u201d<\/span><\/i> (<\/span>\u201cC\u2019\u00e8 ancora domani\u201d<\/span><\/i>) by <\/span>Paola Cortellesi<\/b>, a powerful film that tells many aspects of women\u2019s lives and strength. The image of <\/span>Delia (Paola Cortellesi)<\/b> and <\/span>Ivano (Valerio Mastandrea)<\/b> facing each other is paired with the <\/span>1975 law that defines equal rights for spouses<\/b>, a crucial law that still hasn\u2019t been fully realized. Cortellesi\u2019s portrayal of the historical absence of such rights highlights this issue. This segment, for which we thank the director who is part of the artistic lab of the Una Nessuna Centomila Foundation, represents an example of how <\/span>art can support organizations like the Foundation in driving change<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n The spirit of the campaign and of this important day is summed up by <\/span>Giulia Minoli<\/b>, President of Una Nessuna Centomila: <\/span>\u201cFor the Una Nessuna Centomila Foundation, <\/span>March 8<\/b> is an occasion to <\/span>remember past victories<\/b> and <\/span>celebrate the women who achieved them for all of us<\/b>. <\/span>We cannot help but think of <\/span>Marisa Rodano<\/b>, who passed away last December. She was the last living parliamentarian from Italy\u2019s First Legislature, a partisan and activist to whom we owe the choice of the <\/span>mimosa<\/b> as the symbol of Women\u2019s Day. <\/span>But this is also a day for <\/span>taking stock<\/b>, to assess how much of that legacy has truly been secured, and how much further we still need to go on the path toward <\/span>women\u2019s emancipation<\/b>.<\/span>
\n<\/span> We are part of an <\/span>intersectional feminism<\/b> that speaks to all women, not just Italian women.<\/span>
\n<\/span> On International Women\u2019s Day, some countries \u2014 like France \u2014 celebrate the <\/span>constitutional protection of abortion rights<\/b>, while others still <\/span>deny<\/b> that right. <\/span>There are women who bear the greatest cost of <\/span>war, injustice, and horror<\/b>, and it is to <\/span>all of them<\/b> that this day must speak.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
